So you were thinking of trying to customize a My Little Pony, hmm?

Despite the fact that customized ponies have been around for decades, mainstream media discovered them these past few weeks. First the Dr. Horrible My Little Ponies went viral after an appearance on io9, then Mari Kasurinen’s customs went viral with Urlesque, Best Week Ever and many other sites picking up the link to her Why So Serious Joker from Batman The Dark Night MLP (seen at right). Of course, who could also forget the media frenzy a few months ago over the Halo 3 MLP which was covered in nearly all tech and gaming websites.

So right about how you are starting to get curious about the world of OOAK (One Of A Kind ponies for the uninitiated) MLP. You may have discovered the many years old but still awesome Borg ponies, the X-Box pony, and Link’s Epona from The Legend of Zelda. With a little searching, there is also a set of ponies of the cast of Firefly, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and hundreds more. There is a whole world of MLP artists out there creating some really amazing work!

In addition, there are also hundreds of original creations like these. Search in the My Little Pony category on eBay under OOAK or custom and you will find many of these amazing works of art up for sale right now like this. Heck, a custom My Little Pony is even on display as a part of this Art Exhibit.

Now, you may find yourself getting the bug to try to make your own MLP creation but PUT DOWN THAT PAINT BRUSH! Before you put that first big smear of paint on that pony, take a few seconds to consult a My Little Pony price guide to make sure that you aren’t destroying a rare pony. Imagine how upset you’d be if you defaced a pony with your attempt at art only to discover it was worth a few hundred dollars!

If you don’t have time to research, let us teach you a little bit of the lingo. “Custom bait” is a term that MLP collector’s use to mean a pony that is largely destroyed beyond repair. These ponies already have so many flaws that there is no problem with customizing them because their value has decreased so much. These ponies are totally safe to mess up and redo with your artistic efforts.

Not sure where to come into some of these custom bait ponies? Priced Nostalgia has you covered! We’ve listed 16 custom bait ponies for you on eBay right now, each one starting at just 1 penny so that you only pay shipping. Even better, we’ll combine shipping on every pony that you buy so the more you buy, the more you save on shipping. It’s a great way to stock up on a few ponies to experiment without breaking the bank. Go ahead and place your bids now!

If you make anything cool with the ponies you buy from us, though, we hope you’ll show us your creation when you’re done!
