I came across a retro review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze done as part of superfriendsuniverse.com’s continued “Turtle Week”.  The review gives some pros and cons of the movie and is sure to clearly indicate when a spoiler alert is coming (anyone left out there that grew up in the late 80s/early 90s that hasn’t seen this??). I liked and agreed with most of what Sportsguy515 wrote; and it got me thinking of my own opinion of the movie.

Usually, when I like a movie I continue to like that movie and regard it as one of my favorites for the rest of my life. Turtles II was one of my all time favorite movies growing up, greatly surpassing my love for the first TMNT live action movie. However, having recently re-watched the movie I am saddened to say this movie is near unwatchable for me now! Campy, corny, and just plane poorly put together. I feel like whatever money could have gone into script editing went into just ONE more gigantic fight scene. Yet, those same fight scenes are what made me love it so much as a kid. My love of movies cannot make me see past a bad movie, but my love of TMNT still keeps this movie dear to my heart. It is still a lot of fun to watch for if no other reason than to make fun of, but it is a definite must see for any TMNT fan. Check out the review and wrap your head around some nostalgic goodness and get inspired to see the movie!
