Considering the success of Nintendo’s Wii, Mario, although being a very old school character, has not left pop culture relevance in the slightest.
Even with all the power behind modern day video game systems, kids are still finding great joy in classic and new side scrolling and 3 dimensional Super Mario Brothers titles.
With that being said, being Mario is a great idea for a Halloween costume for kids and adults. There are tons of options on the internet and they have costumes for all Mario characters like Peach, Luigi, and Toad.
