I stumbled upon some amazingly hardcore fan-made paintings on Comicsalliance.com. The creator of these visually stunning paintings is Rhys Cooper.
I am a sucker for old characters especially the ones I grew up watching. However, I am fully grown now and can appreciate a little grit and new representations of characters who otherwise would have no chance or purpose to look this way. The Joker and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles paintings are not a huge stretch of the imagination if you are familiar with the original comics or recent movie, but the Sesame Street and Muppet renditions are sinisterly shocking.
This might not be for everyone, but if you like to see unique twists on beloved characters I would highly reccomend checking this out.
