Your comment makes me want to tell a story: I was a kid and I LOVED He-Man but I wouldn’t tell any of my friends that I watched the show or played with the toys because I didn’t want them to know that I was into a “boy’s show.” Then I saw a commercial for the toys where there was actually a little girl playing with the boys and I was so happy I ran around the house and told everyone in the family, “It’s OK to play with them! There was a girl!!!!” That was all it took for me to not feel like I was some kind of freak.
The moral of the story is: I wish society would stop shoving gender roles down our throats and let people just enjoy what they enjoy.
