a Retro Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze

I came across a retro review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze done as part of superfriendsuniverse.com’s continued “Turtle Week”.  The review gives some pros and cons of the movie and is sure to clearly indicate when a spoiler alert is coming (anyone left out there that grew up in the late 80s/early 90s that hasn’t seen this??). I liked and agreed with most of what Sportsguy515 wrote; and it got me thinking of my own opinion of the movie.

Usually, when I like a movie I continue to like that movie and regard it as one of my favorites for the rest of my life. Turtles II was one of my all time favorite movies growing up, greatly surpassing my love for the first TMNT live action movie. However, having recently re-watched the movie I am saddened to say this movie is near unwatchable for me now! Campy, corny, and just plane poorly put together. I feel like whatever money could have gone into script editing went into just ONE more gigantic fight scene. Yet, those same fight scenes are what made me love it so much as a kid. My love of movies cannot make me see past a bad movie, but my love of TMNT still keeps this movie dear to my heart. It is still a lot of fun to watch for if no other reason than to make fun of, but it is a definite must see for any TMNT fan. Check out the review and wrap your head around some nostalgic goodness and get inspired to see the movie!

Rick Moranis joins cast of Ghostbusters 3

Perezhilton.com posted that Rick Moranis will come out of retirement and join the cast of Ghostbusters 3. I personally think this is wonderful news! I use to love Rick Moranis in his movies, most of which now classics, and I completely agree with Perez that a new Honey I Shrunk the Kids movie would be amazing. If you want to read the post you can here.

Retro Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sewer Play-set Commercial

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Sewer Play-set;  I absolutely loved this toy. I was very happy to stumble upon the ad at superfriendsuniverse.com, otherwise I would have never thought to look this up randomly. I’m torn over which truly holds the number one play-set position in my heart; because Mattel’s He-Man Castle Gray Skull play-set and the Ghostbusters Fire House play-set were amazingly awesome too. I think I liked the play-sets so much because I felt like they made the adventures I’d send my actions figures on official. They had their home turf to return to and it gave them street cred.  But anyway, seeing the commercial brought back nostalgic feelings of being youthfully marketed to and it was fun to watch it again so check it out here if you’d like. Also, this this commercial was posted as part of the site’s “Turtle Week” so they seem to be big Turtle advocates so keep them in mind.
