Here’s a question from Evan on from our Facebook page:
I wanted to get some advice or tips on restoration. Firstly I am restoring a G1 Snowfake and wanted to know if you new of any way of restoring glitter symbols as accurately as possible? I have tried glitter glue pens but they come out too thick and peel. Any help would be amazing. Next I will be restoring G1 Jazzy, roller skates pony, her front skate has been pulled off and gone missing any help and advice on restoring her would be great.
Glitter symbols are very tricky so I thought this would be a great question to crowd source. What would you recommend? (Post your answer below so everyone can benefit!)
I found an image of an Italian version of Snowflake with a silver symbol instead of a glitter one would it be worth me redrawing the symbol silver rather than reglittering? I would like to keep her as original as pos but if I cant its not a worry.
I’ve seen them redrawn before but I’ve honestly never seen one that didn’t look terrible.
I use acrylic glitter paint. The brand I use is called Plaid and it says “Extreme Glitter” on it. You can get it at a craft and hobby shop. Comes in many colors; red, gold, silver, green, blue, purple…gorgeous! It may take lots of coatings to restore the symbols but directions do say to repeat until you achieve your desired effect!
