I saw a trailer on Insidetv.ew.com for the upcoming 2012 Nickelodeon reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. TMNT are getting their third animated series and this time it appears from this trailer that they will be computer animated (CGI).
Rumors surrounding this show have implied that they will be returning to the more slapstick nature the turtles once had when the original animated series, called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, premiered in 1987. However, this trailer leads one to believe there is a lot more action and edginess, similar to how the turtles were portrayed in the 2003 animated reboot also titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the 2007 CGI theatrical release titled TMNT.
Whatever this new shows brings I find it absolutely amazing how tremendous the turtle’s cultural impact has been that after 3 decades they are still delighting fans, attracting new fans to the franchise, and staying relevant to pop culture.
